Jamie Cox’s first professional trainer Richie Woodhall believes the Swindon boxer would be a force to be reckoned with in the middleweight division.
The 29-year-old is currently campaigning at super middleweight and has blasted away his last three opponents inside the first round.
However, former super middleweight world champion Woodhall says he would like to see Cox step down a division and mix it with the likes of Billy Joe Saunders, Chris Eubank Junior and Nick Blackwell.
Furthermore, Woodhall believes a local derby fight between Swindon’s Cox and Trowbridge’s Blackwell would make for an mouthwatering fight.
Woodhall revealed that Cox was a “pleasure to work with” when he first turned professional back in 2007.
He also added that so long as the Swindon southpaw keeps on winning then the current world champions will not be able to ignore him for ever.
