Wiltshire Roller Derby celebrated their third consecutive win in the British Championships thanks to a 256-61 success against Bedfordshire Roller Derby recently.

Scoring the first 19 points, Wiltshire were in control early on until their jammer received a 30-second penalty allowing Bedfordshire time to catch up.

Within 10 minutes Bedfordshire had levelled the scores at 27 points apiece.

Wiltshire though bounced back superbly as they secured a commanding 123-45 lead at half-time.

The Wiltshire blockers stepped up their game in the second half, only allowing Bedforshire to score five points in the next 10 minutes while their jammers managed to push 70 points further ahead.

Wiltshire remained in control of the rest of the match as they secured a 256-61 success. It was also their fourth consecutive win this year.

A delighted Nicola Botley said: “Bedfordshire were such a friendly team to play and they definitely made us work for it.

“The constant sprints to the front of the pack really tested our endurance and they certainly weren’t the same level we saw them play at our home game in February.

“As you can see by the close scores at the beginning we weren’t expecting their massive improvement, however it made for an interesting game for us and we managed to adapt and turn things around in our favour.

“I’m proud of how our team stayed focused and worked hard despite a few surprises which is a testament to the hard training we are doing and the time our coaches put into ensuring we constantly improve.”

Wiltshire’s next game is in Bedfordshire on June 5th where they play their penultimate game in the British Championships against Wakey Wheeled Cats Roller Derby.
