Swindon Supermarine boss Dave Webb believes his side are ready for the start of the new football season after completing their pre-season campaign against Forest Green Rovers last night.
National League side Forest Green showed their class as they strolled to a 5-1 success against Marine at the Webbswood Stadium, but overall Webb says he has been pleased with their pre-season performances.
Webb has assembled a young side following the departures of the experienced Chris Taylor, Ross Adams and Kyle Lapham in the summer and is confident they will produce the goods in the Southern League Division 1 South & West division.
The loss of goalkeeper and club captain Matt Bulman to injury however was described as a huge blow by Webb as he continues his search for a new stopper before Saturday’s opener away to Didcot.
Dan Lawrence, currently with Swindon Town Under 18’s, could fill Bulman’s boots who is likely to miss the rest of the season with a ruptured achilles.
Webb also revealed that striker Bradley Gray could be in line to replace Bulman as skipper providing he wants the role.

Supermarine’s pre-season campaign ended with a 5-1 defeat against Forest Green Rovers.
Christian Doidge scored the opener for Forest Green on 21 minutes, heading into the top corner from close range.
Mo Chemial then added a second, cutting in from the right wing to curl a superb shot into the far corner of the Supermarine net.
Forest Green went three up just before the break when Rhys Murphy scored.
After the break second-half substitute Matt Tubbs scored with a neat finish on the hour before Sam Morris pulled one back for Marine.
A defensive error by Supermarine saw them concede a fifth goal, Tubbs on target again to wrap up the scoring.
