Despite having a tense wait to claim all three points against AFC Totton on Tuesday night, Swindon Supermarine boss Dave Webb hailed his side for making a perfect start to the season.
Webb says he can ask no more from his side after winning their first two games of the season, although he admitted the performance against Totton was a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde display.
After a dominant first-half, Webb could have been forgiven for feeling hard done by to only be one goal up at the break.
Supermarine were denied by the woodwork and by Totton goalkeeper Steve Mowthorpe as well as having a decent penalty shout turned down.
Joe Selman got the crucial strike on 35 minutes, nipping in ahead of the Totton defence to finish superbly.
A scrappy second half followed but once again Supermarine had their chances to extend the lead, again denied by the woodwork and Mowthorpe.
Totton too had chances and late on Supermarine stopper Connor Johns made a crucial save to keep his side’s slender 1-0 lead in tact.
After a tense finale, Supermarine held on for all three points – a result that delighted Webb.
