Walcot boxer Mikey McDonagh is in confident mood ahead of the most important fight of his career on Saturday.
The 13-year-old competes in the National Schoolboy Final at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
He takes on James Mongan from Priory Park ABC in Birmingham in the Class B, Under 40kg final.
En route to the final McDonagh has already beaten a former champion and knows if he performs to his best he has a great chance of success.
“I have been training at Walcot for about six or seven years and this is what it’s all about – competing for national titles.
“I know I can win if I perform on the day, I just have to make sure I box to my best.”
Walcot Chief Coach Harry Scott added: “Mikey is a talented boxer who trains hard and continues to improve.
“All at Walcot wish him well for the final.”
