Max Mulcock was the star of Wrag Barn Golf Club’s Junior Week as he scooped two prestigious titles.
On Tuesday, Mulcock won the Wrag Barn Junior Summer Knockout Final, beating Lewis Ward on the first extra hole, and then on Friday he retained his Junior Championship title for the second successive year. Nathan Miller was awarded third place in the competition by default due to the injury incurred by Caitlin Carney.
Rounds of 73 and 77 in the Wrag Barn Junior Championship 36-hole competition saw Mulcock pip Ollie Jeans (79 and 73) by just two shots.
Grabbing third place in the Junior Championships was Adam Jelley who beat Ross Loveridge on countback.
Day one of the highly successful Junior Week saw Mary McDiarmid, Elena Clements and Jarvis Bell win the Ladies competition, four points clear of their nearest rivals.
Jane Bale, Amy Stewart and Nathan Miller earned second place while Di Reveve, Jan Young and Lydia Ward were in third.
The Par Trophy was won by Adam Jelley who was the only player in the extremely windy conditions to “beat the course”, ending the round two holes up.
Max Mulcock was runner-up ending the day all square while Tom Walsham was third as he finished one down.
On day two, Alan Scragg, Chris Taylor, Rod Welsby and Adam Jelley won the Seniors and Juniors match with an excellent gross score of 64, nett 59.92.
Runners-up were Alan Winter, Ken Diccox, Jake Caddy and Jarvis Bell who scored nett 62.08 (gross 70) while Doug Jones, Alan Raybould, Kyle Campbell and Libbi Mulcock were third with a nett 62.17 (gross 68).
On day three, Lydia Ward won the MacDonald’s Stableford with a superb 41 points, pipping both Adam Jelley and Libbi Mulcock on countback.
Nearest the Pins in the MacDonald’s Stableford went to Nathan Miller for his effort on the third and to Adam Jelley for his shot on the 16th.
Guy Drayton won the Roberts Malham Trophy thanks to an excellent nett score of 68 with second place going to Libbi Mulcock (nett 69) who beat both Ryan Carney and Adam Jelley on countback.
Lowest gross of the day was 74 carded by Max Mulcock.
In the Junior Championship on day five, Guy Drayton won the morning nett competition thanks to his score of 69 with Lydia Ward beating Eddie Alexander on countback for second place.
Elena Clements won the Junior Championship afternoon nett competition, with an amazing score of 61 with Nathan Miller in second and Callum Holmes pipping Tom Finney to third on countback.
Departing junior captain Ross Loveridge lead by example in the juniors’ match against the men’s section as he birdied the last to captain his side to a 7.5-2.5 success.
On the final day, Rhys Stewart won the Rody Cup with an amazing 44 points while Ollie Clements pipped Lewis Ward to second place on countback, both scoring 42 points.
Finally, Libbi Mulcock won the Campell Trophy (girls only) with 36 points from Freya Turner (32 points) and Elena Clements (31 points).
