Swindon Town Ladies got off to the perfect start when they took the lead against Maidenhead United on just two minutes.
Michelle Rich’s searching ball picked out Ellie Maynard inside the Maidenhead box and she neatly took the ball down before firing right footed into the back of the net.
The in-form Beth Westlake then doubled Swindon Town’s lead soon after when she snuck in behind the Maidenhead defence.
A long ball forward caught the visitors’ defence napping but Westlake refused to give up chase to nip in and slot the ball past the Maidenhead keeper.
Swindon Town Ladies then had the chance to extend their lead further when Maynard was bundled over inside the penalty area.
Maynard stepped up to take the penalty herself but squandered the chance as she dragged the ball wide.
Having dominated the first half, Town failed to replicate the same performance after the break.
A scrappy second half eventually petered out although it was a fine defensive performance from Swindon Town as they claimed their first clean sheet of the season.
The win also ensured they stay at the top of the Women’s Premier League South West Division One table alongside Larkhall Athletic on 12 points.
On Sunday, Swindon Town Ladies travel to Southampton Saints hoping to complete an early season double over them, having already beaten them 5-1 on the opening day of the season.
