Watch highlights of Swindon Town Ladies’ 1-1 draw with Keynsham at the weekend.
Swindon Town Ladies had to settle for a point at home to Keynsham on Sunday in the Women’s Premier League South West Division One.
Having not played in three weeks, Swindon Town started slowly against Keynsham and conceded the first goal on just 12 minutes.
Keynsham always looked dangerous on the break and when Cristina Vega Leandro crossed from the right, Leanne Lapham was on hand to rise above the Swindon Town defence to head the visitors into the lead.
Both Ellie Maynard, Michelle Rich and Beth Westlake went close to equalising for Town before they were awarded a penalty just before the break when Abby Piction was chopped down in the penalty box.
Chenise Austin stepped up to take the penalty and despite striking it well, Kenysham goalkeeper Collette Bell made a fantastic save to turn the ball away.
Swindon Town pressed in the second half with Picton, Chyna Collings and Westlake all going close while Keynsham always looked capable of adding a second goal.
And Keynsham almost extended their lead only for Rich to make a desperate goal line clearance a stop which proved crucial as Town levelled with just 15 minutes remaining.
Sam Quinn got the equaliser for Town as she fired home from a Westlake corner which was not cleared by the Keynsham defence.
Both teams had further chances in the dying stages but neither side could find a crucial winning goal.
The result leaves Swindon Town lying in third place in the table but still undefeated this season.
On Sunday, Town Ladies travel to new league leaders Larkhall United in the FA Cup.
