A lacklustre performance from Dave Webb’s side cost them dear as they lost their 100 per cent record to a more determined Bishops Cleeve outfit.

Two early first half goals from the visitors eventually proved vital as Swindon Supermarine failed to replicate their fine performances against Banbury and Shortwood previously.

Supermarine went into the Southern League Division One South & West clash in confident mood having clinically despatched Banbury and Shortwood 3-0 and 2-0 respectively in their opening two matches of the season.

Bishops Cleeve made the brighter start of the two sides with Elliot Kennedy looking a constant threat down the left.

But it was Swindon Supermarine who should have taken the lead on 15 minutes when Luke Hopper fired over the bar from Ryan Stanners’ cut back.

The lively Kennedy then created the first goal for the visitors as he crossed for Jordan Bryan to slot home on 25 minutes.

Kennedy was the provider again as Bishops Cleeve doubled their advantage just eight minutes later – Aaron Drake flicking past Supermarine keeper Matt Busman on 33 minutes.

It was an improved performance from Supermarine in the second half but they failed to find a way past visiting keeper Mat Wieczok until the 87th minute when Hopper’s deflected free kick found the back of the Bishops Cleeve net.

A late Supermarine onslaught followed but the home side could find no way past Wieczok for a second time as they watched their perfect start to the season end in disappointing fashion.
