Watch all the goals from Swindon Supermarine’s 2-2 friendly draw against League Two Forest Green Rovers.

Supermarine and their League Two visitors Forest Green served up an entertaining 2-2 draw at The Webb’s Wood Stadium on Wednesday night, writes Nick Taylor.

Having hosted Leeds United only 24 hours earlier in a 2-1 defeat, former Swindon Town manager Mark Cooper brought an almost complete squad to take on Lee Spalding’s side, adding three players from their Under 18’s to bolster numbers.

Marine drew first blood when on eight minutes summer signing Connor McDonagh opened his account for his new team, firing home into the far left corner of Lewis Thomas’s goal from a Stuart Fleetwood pass.

The visitors almost restored parity a minute later but a double save from veteran keeper Kevin Sawyer thwarted Scott Laird.

Rovers equalised on 26 minutes after Reece Brown’s measured through ball found 16-year-old Dan Ogunleye, who beat the Marine offside trap to slide the ball confidently home past Sawyer.

With both sides making changes at half time, former Rovers player Fleetwood was unlucky not to put Marine back in front with his audacious 35-yard chip, the ball just clearing the bar.

Brad Hooper was next to try his luck against the visitors on 56 minutes, his skilful chest control and volley unfortunately rebounding back off the post with Keeper Thomas beaten.

Marine deservedly retook the lead on 65 minutes, Josh Parsons producing one of his trademark specialist free-kicks, curling around the Rovers wall from 25 yards out after Fleetwood had been held back by a Rovers defender.

Mark Cooper’s side upped their efforts and began to show their superior fitness as the game wore on with former Preston North End full back Laird bagging Rovers second goal of the night on 84 minutes blasting home from the left edge of the penalty area past returning Marine keeper Josh Hill.

Marine are next in action on Saturday when they travel to face Sam Collier’s Royal Wootton Bassett Town side, kick off 3pm.
