Lawn A got their season off to a flying start in Division One with a 52-47 win against Razzle Dazzle.

This match was a close affair from start to finish with some great interceptions and acurrate shooting from both shooters.

Lawn’s shooters though impressed most and gave their team a well deserved victory with Holly Thompson receiving the player of the match award.

Elsewhere in Division One, a new-look Pinehurst A side took on Raychem A, missing out on victory by a single point.

And Pinehurst’s youthful but inexperienced side did well in the first half with the scores locked at 21 points apiece.

Some excellent defensive tips and interceptions in mid court ensured this match was a low scoring affair initially.

The scores were tied again going into the final quarter with both teams on 33 points.

Pinehurst’s youngsters kept calm with the increasing pace of the game and brilliant shooting by both teams kept the game close until the final seconds.

Players of the match were Taylor Goodright (Pinehurst) and Sophie Collins (Raychem).

In Division Two, a newly-formed Lawn C side played really well against Burmah B.

Drawing after the first quarter, Burmah took a six-goal lead going into the final session.

Lawn pulled the score back during the final minutes but Burmah held on to secure a 39-35 success.

Player of the match was Charlotte Arnold.

Croft B got their season off to a winning start by beating Lawn B 35-32 in Division Two.

Despite falling behind in the first quarter, Croft found themselves ahead at the half-way point.

Erratic errors from Lawn eventually saw Croft clinch victory by 12 points.

Lawn’s Charlotte Clinton was the player of the match.

On Sunday, Lawn’s under 14 and under 16 squads took part in the Wiltshire tournament, with both securing their place into the regional South West League.

The Under 16 side won their tournament while the Under 14’s were runners-up.

Swindon’s Tracy Watt has also been named Grassroots Coach of the Year at the National Goalden Globe Awards.

An England netball spokesperson said: “Tracy Watt collected the Grassroots Coach Award for her excellent work at all levels from grassroots to performance, adults and children.

“Tracy is a dedicated and well-respected coach who has had a positive impact on so many players, ensuring they have a positive experience in netball.”
