Swindon Supermarine boss Lee Spalding believes his side are well equipped to make a charge in Southern Premier South this season.

Speaking after his side’s final pre-season friendly against Frome Town, Spalding said he feels his current batch of players are in a “better place” than they were last season.

Supermarine rounded off their pre-season with a 2-2 draw at Frome and now open their 2019-20 campaign with a home clash against Walton Casuals next Saturday.

Spalding is expecting a tough test from Marine’s visitors, saying: “I’m expecting it to be a tough game, I’m sure they’ll be well organised.

“We’re expecting a tough game on the opening day of the season, it’ll be fast, it’ll be frantic, it’s up to us to make sure that we turn up and battle and play the way we want to.

“The squad of players that we have got this season, I feel that we are in a much better place than we were at the start of last season. We’re going into the league now, we know what it is about.

“There are a lot of positives to take from it. It has been a good pre-season, overall I’m happy with what I am seeing.

“It’s important that we take the pre-season form that we’ve had into the season now.

“It’s just a case of having a good week in training now, preparing for the game Saturday and making sure the players are ready.”
