Swindon Supermarine skipper Stuart Fleetwood was delighted with his side’s performance against League Two Forest Green Rovers on Saturday.
In what was Supermarine’s second test against League Two opposition having faced Swindon Town earlier this month, Fleetwood & Co more than held their own against Forest Green.
Goals from Shawn McCoulsky and Taylor Allen gave League Two Forest Green a 2-1 win against Supermarine at the Webb’s Wood.
“It was definitely nice to get a goal, I think we deserved it,” said Fleetwood. “It’s all about fitness, especially at this time in the season. It’s definitely good to play against League opposition, it’ll definitely stand us in good stead.”
McCoulsky and Allen both struck in the first half before Kane Simpson replied on 77 minutes.
Harry Williams also went agonisingly close to snatching a late equaliser for Supermarine but his shot flew over the bar from 12 yards.
