Lawn D edged out Royal Wootton Bassett C 40-37 in Division Four of the Swindon Netball Winter League on Saturday.

After a slow start, Lawn had to overturn a deficit of five in the second half. Some fantastic defence from Fliss Tilley set the foundations and allowed player of the match Hannah Simpson to help complete the turnaround.

Elsewhere in Division Four, Bassett’s B team were also narrowly beaten, losing out 28-27 to Purton B.

Moonraker suffered their first loss of the campaign after a 31-22 defeat to Jets B.

Raychem E were 38-27 winners over Faringdon whilst Delta B saw off Pinehurst D 35-17.

In Division One, Pinehurst A made it seven wins from seven with a 48-40 triumph over Raychem A, who suffered their first loss.

Burmah A are up to fourth following a 46-29 win over Razzle Dazzle whilst Pinehurst B are still awaiting their first victory following a 42-16 loss to Nationwide A.

Croft A defeated Corsham 43-27 whilst Abbey Meads A were just able to overcome Moredon A, winning 49-46.

Royal Wootton Bassett A earned their first win in Division Two following a 44-35 victory over Delta A.

The match was closely fought from the off, with the two sides locked at 12-12 after the first quarter.

However, despite Jess Sutton’s player of the match performance for Delta, Bassett were able to edge clear and eventually take the points.

Lawn B remain locked on points with leaders Raychem B following a 39-30 win over Raychem C.

The two sides were level at the end of the first half but some tactical changes at half time by Lawn paid dividends as they eventually secured a nine-goal success. Holly Atkins was the player of the match.

Also in Division Two, Fairford A defeated Lawn C 50-36 in a fast-paced game.

Fairford led from the first quarter onwards and despite Holly Singleton’s player of the match performance and some player changes for the final quarter, Lawn were unable to bridge to gap.

There were also victories for Croft B and Raychem B who defeated Burmah B and Nationwide B respectively.

Raychem D maintained their 100 percent Division Three record with a 52-33 win over Croft C.

Pinehurst C remain in second place following their 84-23 success over Coleview whilst Fairford B earned their first win of the campaign, defeating third-placed Purton A 36-34.

Also notching victories on Saturday were Jets A and Nationwide C who overcame Abbey Meads B and Moredon B.

In Division Five, Lawn E were unable to extend their winning run following a 33-27 defeat to league leaders Burmah C.

Burmah took an early lead and Lawn were never able to recover, despite some fine interceptions from player of the match Em Osbourne.

Croft D earned a 37-22 win over Raychem F whilst Moredon C were 55-26 winners against Raychem G.

Meanwhile, in the South West Regional League, Lawn’s RL3 side earned a third consecutive victory when they beat Bristol Storm 56-47.

A strong first quarter ending at 20-8 to Lawn set the home side up.

Continued steady play by the squad and excellent shooting resulted in Abbie Simpson bagging a well deserved player of the match.
