Watch our interview with Tawny Owl following their Adver Cup success on Saturday.

Tawny Owl were crowned Adver Cup champions after securing a 3-2 extra-time win against Avtar.

It could have been very different however, had Avtar’s Blaine Fitzgerald scored his penalty with five minutes remaining of normal time.

Kenny Hawkins got Tawny Owl off to a fine start when he latched onto a long ball to lob Avtar keeper Liam Gooch.

Just before the break though, Lewis Walden beat the Tawny Owl offside trap to fire his side level.

A controversial penalty decision looked set to cost Avtar dear after David Burke not only conceded the spot kick but was also sent off for dissent.

Dave Slattery picked out the top corner from the spot to restore Tawny Owl’s lead.

Chris Price then levelled late on for Avtar despite having his shirt pulled.

With just five minutes remaining, Avtar were awarded a penalty and despite top goalscorer Fitzgerald stepping up confidently, Tawny Owl keeper Darren Coleman made a superb save.

That miss proved costly in extra-time after Dave Slattery was pulled down in the box and then kept his cool to hit the winner from the spot.
