Swindon Town Football In The Community girls kicked off their Gothia Cup campaign with a fine win today.
Facing Swedish side AIK FF in their opening Girls Under 18 Group One match, Town required two second-half goals from Megan Attenborough and Karolayne Byrom to clinch a 2-1 victory.
AIK FF took the lead just before half-time when Klara Söderstedt scored on 43 minutes.
But the Swindon Town girls bounced back straight after the break courtesy of Byrom’s 46th-minute strike.
And just four minutes later, Attenborough gave Swindon Town the lead – a goal which proved enough to get their Gothia Cup campaign off to a winning start.
Swindon Town’s next match is on Tuesday when they face Norwegian side Lyn Fotball before they conclude their group matches against Brazlian side BRFC on Wednesday.
