Swindon Shock experienced a mixed weekend as they won their first national league match of the season but then bowed out of the cup 24 hours later.

The Swindon side led by 13 points at half-time away at Exeter in their first regular season match.

Exeter though fought back and a full court shot on the buzzer sent the home side into the lead by one point going into the final quarter.

Steady play from Shock’s veteran players saw them regain the lead as they edged ahead by four points midway through the quarter.

Again Exeter fought back but Shock held on as they grabbed a 67-64 success.

A day later a short-handed Swindon Shock side travelled to Cardiff in the second round of the National Cup.

Victory would give them the chance to play Division One powerhouses Reading Rockets.

At half-time it all looked promising for Swindon as they led by seven points.

But the wear and tear of back to back matches though took its toll as Cardiff bounced back to win 66-62.

With Bristol Flyers folding and withdrawing from the league, Swindon Shock now host their first home game October 22nd against Southampton University Sharks.
