A host of Swindon players starred at the annual Wiltshire Closed Junior Squash Championships last weekend.
Eighty juniors took part in the event which took place at Marlborough College, an illustration that participation in the sport is on the up in Wiltshire.
Swindon players dominated the Under 11 event with Bethany Donald and Harrison Hemmings winning the girls and boys titles respectively.
Marlborough pupil George Gibbins beat Angus Macmillan (St Francis) to win the Under 13 Boys title while Sophie Bolland beat last year’s runner up Tamsin Morgan to clinch the girls’ title.
In the Under 15 age group Corsham’s Marcus Wales overcame a battling performance from Dauntsey’s Will Hodgson to take the title.
Swindon duo Lauren Doble and Kieran Mellor clinched both titles in the Under 17 section beating Phoebe Marshman and Dan Davis respectively.
Mellor’s match against Davis proved to be the match of the day with the Swindon star winning 15-13 in the decider after saving five match balls.
The day finished with Ridgeway’s Calli Smith beating Millfield’s Cameron Stratton 3-0.
