Lower Stratton continued their strong start to their Swindon & District Division One campaign as they were resounding 9-0 winners at Swindon AFC, writes Josh Bird.

Liam New grabbed four goals for the visitors with Jamie Saunders (3) and Gavin Kay (2) also on target.

And despite winning four out of their first five league matches, manager Alan Spring is keeping his feet on the ground.

“For us at present it is going well but the season just started,” he said.

“We are only five league games in and there’s a long way to go.

“It was good to get three more points and only three of the team scored, but everyone played their part.

“It was Liam’s first full game as he has just signed back on and he finished well.

“We also had lot of chances saved by the Swindon AFC  keeper and their team did not stop working.

“And we know what that’s like, having a difficult start to the season, when you can just get a squad of 11 players or even 12 if lucky.”

Sport 4 Pinehurst are the team to catch in Division One as they recorded their sixth straight success, defeating New Town Allstars 7-0.

There were hat-tricks for both Johnathan Peachey-Score and Aaron Welland with a fine long range strike from Lee Davis completing the rout.

Stratton Juniors sit in second place as they narrowly overcame Lyneham 2-1.

Goals from Ryan Major and Sebastian Kraft were enough to secure Stratton a hard-earned three points.

Moredon fought back from a 2-0 half time deficit to earn a draw against Old Town United.

Anton Webb and Aaron Williams seemingly put Old Town in a commanding position but goals from Steven Nicholls and Carl Wyatt earned a share of the spoils for fourth placed Moredon.

Haydon Wick defeated Core Construction to stretch their unbeaten run to four matches.

Kevin Stephens scored a free kick to give Haydon Wick the lead before Yasuhiro Ohno made it two after a run from midfield.

Core Construction pulled one back through Lewy Day but there was still time for Daniel Ricketts to head home from a corner to extend the lead at the interval. Corey Horgan did half the deficit in the second half but Haydon Wick ran out 3-2 victors.

Wroughton Reserves secured a comfortable 4-0 home victory over Marlborough Reserves with goals from Jordan Lea, Ben Leonard, Darryl Chambers and Scott Currie earning the three points.

Bassett Bulldogs continued their impressive start to life in the Premier Divsion as they saw off Spectrum 6-0 to move into second in the standings.

Riccardo Serratore scored a 20-minute hat-trick in the second half with Jason Hudson also netting a treble to secure the comprehensive win.

Ramsbury moved into fourth spot with a 4-0 success at Swindon Centurians.

A Gareth Brown brace added to late strikes from Matthew Darvell and Adam Elmer ensured Ramsbury earned a fourth win of the campaign.

Village Inn won their first match of the league season as they won 3-1 at North Swindon WMC.

Craig Alexander bagged two goals whilst Roger Mundy was also on target for the visitors. A Tom Ballard goal couldn’t prevent defeat for the winless hosts.
