Smith does not rate Swindon rival Young

Boxer Sam Smith is a man of few words but ahead of his fight this weekend at York Hall he has made his feelings clear that he does not rate light heavyweight rival Kelvin Young.

While Smith takes on David Sipos in a four round affair, Young takes on Jack Morris for the Southern Area title – a strap that the former has his eyes on.

And Smith, who trains in Swindon with Paddy Fitzpatrick, would relish a fight with Young and is in no doubt that he would beat him.

Young has a new trainer in Devizes-based Liam Wilkins but Smith doesn’t believe that will improve Young as a boxer and claimed he could have Freddie Roach in his corner and it wouldn’t make a difference.

Joining Smith and Young on Saturday’s Goodwin Promotions card is Swindon cruiserweight Luke Watkins.

Watkins takes on Dimitrij Kalinovskij, looking for his ninth professional success.
