Thomas Scullion, Seona Mauchline and Benjamin Mazzotta took the titles at this year’s Hills Wiltshire Junior Open Championship earlier this week.

Thirty-four players contested competed for honours in cold and wet weather conditions at North Wilts Golf Club while 10 beginners tested their skills on a shorter 10 hole course.

In the boys event, 12-year-old Upavon golfer Thomas Scullion scored a gross 78 as he pipped Chippenham’s Bradley Rossiter by just one shot.

Rossiter himself secured the runners-up spot on count back from Manor House’s Dominic Samra, both shooting 79.

High Post’s Seona Mauchline won the girls title for the second year in a row thanks to her gross score of 84.

Cumberwell’s Laura Curtis was second with a gross 87 while third place went to Broome Manor’s Olivia Bannon, who shot 95.

The best nett score of the day was from The Wiltshire’s Benjamin Mazzotta. His nett 65 was enough to pip Bowood’s Alex Milham by two shots while in third was Dominic Piggott, who shot 68.

Alan Pardoe chairman of The Hills Group, said: “It is always great to see the young golfers putting on such a good show.

“Thanks to North Wilts Golf Club for hosting the event and to Wiltshire County Golf for their help in co-ordinating the event.”
