O’Kane, who is trained by Swindon trainer Fitzpatrick, fights at Madison Square Garden on October 17th on the undercard to Gennedy Golovkin’s middleweight unification fight with David Lemieux.
The fight itself is a final eliminator for the IBF strap with the winner of O’Kane and Tureano facing either Golovkin or Lemieux.
Fitzpatrick believes O’Kane will be up against a “mirror image of himself” on the night and described the task of facing Johnson as “hard work for any man”.
The Swindon trainer however remains confident that O’Kane, 33, can realise his dream of fighting for a world title adding “it is definitely a fight that Eamonn can win”.
O’Kane and Fitzpatrick have now jetted off to New York to complete their training camp ahead of the fight and will be joined by Swindon cruiserweight Luke Watkins in the next few days.
