Swindon Supermarine Women are celebrating success in their first ever competitive event.

The club fielded two teams in the six-a-side tournament at the Salisbury Ray Mac Stadium and both reached the last four of the competition.

Facing each other in the semi-final, Supermarine Blue won a closely contested match to reach the final.

Supermarine then clinched the trophy in dramatic style as they won a penalty shootout.

Swindon Supermarine Women are newly formed and will compete in the Wiltshire County Women’s League next season.

Manager Simon Harrison said: “It was a great evening. I am so proud of all of the ladies who played and am excited that we won our first trophy as a new team.”

Assistant Manager Kerry Walklett added:  “Let’s hope this is the first of many and will hopefully encourage more players to the club.”

Supermarine train on a Wednesday evenings at the Swindome from 6.45pm to 8pm. For more details contact club Secretary Sadie Harrison at sswfc@outlook.com
