Wrag Barn golfer Josh Loughrey has won the latest Jamega Tour event at Reading Golf Club.

Loughrey was two shots behind first round leader Charlie Cossins from Ogbourne Downs at the half way point after shooting an eight under par 62.

Four dropped shots at the first three holes eventually cost Cossins dear as he opened the door for Loughrey to close in on the title.

Although Loughrey dropped a shot at the first, he bounced back with four birdies at the turn, while Cossins’ chances faded when he dropped shots at seven and eight.

The Wrag Barn star led the field by two shots as Tom Hayward (-9) and Jamie Moul put the pressure on the leader.

And a stunning six under par front nine from Hayward, which included a hole in one at the eighth, appeared to give him the momentum.

Loughrey then dropped a shot at the 10th but that proved to be his only other dropped shot of the day as he responded with three more birdies to finish the round on five under.

Hayward finished his back nine in level par while Moul’s effort of four under par proved two shots shy of Loughrey.

Loughrey picked up £2,000 winnings while two of his fellow Wrag Barn colleagues also managed fine finishes.

Brother Ben Loughrey and Martin Sell both finished tied sixth with an overall total of six under par.

Ogbourne’s Cossins eventually finished in 12th place on four under par overall while another Wrag Barn golfer, Matt Mumford, finished tied 53rd after carding a total of eight over par.
