Wootton Bassett A continued their fine start to the season making it six wins out of six in Division Four of the Swindon and District League.
Facing a tough game against Delta Reds C, Wootton Bassett had to tighten up their defence for this clash in order to secure a 45-32 success.
Liz Kelly was on top form for Wootton Bassett enjoying a great shooting game while Holly Woodbridge offered superb support in the centre court to take home the player of the match award for the second straight week.
Unfortunately Wootton Bassett B weren’t so lucky, taking on Croft D, who are currently lying second in Division Four, eventually losing 47-33.
It is not all bad though considering the B team was only promoted this season and they are sitting in third place behind Croft D and Wootton Bassett A, the only two teams they have lost to so far.
Wootton Bassett’s B string also boasts some exceptional young players who are developing well this season. The club has also introduced a junior team to continue growing the club.
In Division Five, Marlborough versus Lawn E was a thrilling match, with Marlborough only five behind going into the final quarter.
Lawn E eventually won by a single goal, with Marlborough scoring just moments after the final whistle and almost achieving the draw.
Raychem had an extremely strong match against Corsham in Division One, winning 69-21.
The team dominated from the first whistle with pinpoint precision passing by the centre court players with Haley Roberts was awarded player of the match.
Newly-promoted Raychem B lost their match to Moredon A 46-54, but took many positives from the game, drawing the second quarter.
Lawn got back to winning ways with another clean sweep of divisional wins last week
In Division Two, Lawn B beat Raychem C 55-34, with Goal Shooter Abby Simpson awarded the player of the match as a result of the excellent shooting and circle movement.
Burmah A played Nationwide A with the score pretty much neck and neck in the final quarter.
Burmah’s new recruit, Lauren Rogers, had a fantastic debut game and took the Burmah player of the match title with her team winning 46-39. Burmah B also played a Nationwide side, taking on Nationwide B in Division Two and again secured the win, 44-32 with Jodie tucker securing the Burmah player of the match.
Also in Division Two, Abbey Meads A beat Fairford A 50-32.
Having drawn in the first quarter, Fairford went nine behind in quarter two and never recovered from there.
Abbey’s strong Centre and extremely tall Goal Shooter made it a tough match. Abbey Meads A are undefeated this season with Fairford A sitting fourth in the table. Angie Burrell was given player of the match for Fairford.
