Moredon had a mixed time in the Swindon and District Netball League last weekend, winning twice but losing once.
In Division Three, Moredon C took on Abbey Meads D with both teams having struggled to find form so far this season.
Moredon started the match really strongly, gaining an early lead that they held throughout the match.
Abbey Meads put up a good fight and during the second quarter started to pull back.
But Moredon managed to stay steady and focused to win the game 43-32, with Marie Thompson (Goal Defence) being awarded player of the match.
Moredon A also tasted success in Division One against Croft A in what was a hard-fought clash.
With the scores neck and neck for most of the first quarter, Moredon edged ahead during the second quarter.
Croft though fought back to reclaim the lead heading into the final quarter before Moredon battled back to win 47-39, their third success of the season.
Moredon B though weren’t as successful, losing to Pinehurst B 26-54 in Division Two.
With a number of changes to the team, the match was an uphill struggle from the start.
However, there were lots of positives including some brilliant shooting from player of the match Jenny Carter.
Also in Division Two, Fairford A played Raychem C, winning 46-17 in a hard-fought match which wasn’t reflected in the scoreline.
In Division Four, both Wootton Bassett A and B secured wins with two high-scoring games.
The B team played Jets B, taking the win 51-31 with Grace Evans having a fantastic game as she began her career as centre and Kirsty Freeth receiving a well-deserved player of the match.
The A team managed to maintain their unbeaten record taking on Ferndale for the win 70-17 with Holly Woodridge receiving player of the match.
In the same division, Pinehurst D faced a tough match against Raychem E.
Raychem lost their Centre due to injury in the first quarter and fell behind until the fourth quarter when they pulled the score back to within five goals.
Pinehurst though always had the edge and won the match 33-29. Elsewhere, Raychem F played Croft F in Division Five, beating them 51-31.
Lawn Netball Club had a number of close encounters, with Lawn C beating Delta Reds B 29-28, having trailed by six at the end of the first half, and Charlotte Arnold being awarded player of the match.
Unfortunately the other games didn’t go Lawn’s way, with the A’s losing to Razzle Dazzle 50-55, the B team losing to Burmah B 47-48 (coming back from nine goals down) and the D’s losing 20-28 to Faringdon.
The club had more success in the over 35’s league however, beating both Raychem and Moredon, 39-20 and 39-23 respectively.
