Your Sport Swindon caught up with Malmesbury boxer Joe Hughes ahead of his English title defence in Swindon on October 24th.

Watch our interview with Joe Hughes by clicking on the video above.

Hughes won the English super lightweight back in the summer after claiming a split decision against Anthony Hardy in Bath.

The former Malmesbury ABC boxer is now looking forward to his first defence of that belt in October although his opponent is yet to be announced.

But regardless of who he fights on the night at Swindon’s Oasis Leisure Centre, 25-year-old Hughes says he is “prepared to fight anyone in the division” as he continues his journey towards a shot at the British title.

It will be the third time Hughes has boxed in Swindon but the first time he has topped the bill in the town – something which Hughes is excited about doing.

Hughes tops a fantastic bill on October 24th at the Oasis which is a show being promoted by Swindon’s Keith Mayo in association with Paddy Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick’s cruiserweight Luke Watkins is chief support on the night where he will be looking for his fifth professional victory.

Stablemate Garvey Kelly will also be on the undercard while fellow Swindon welterweight Ryan Martin will fight for his title – a Challenge belt – against Faheem Khan.

Also on the bill is Swindon’s Danny Bharj who will be looking for his third professional success while Chippenham’s Ben Heap makes his pro debut.

Swindon’s female sensation Kelly Morgan is also in action on the night when she faces Georgian Number One Elene Sikmashvili in only her second professional fight.

Tickets, priced at £35 standard and £60 VIP, will be available soon and for further information please visit the KM Promotions website www.kmpromotions.co.uk, contact any of the boxers, Keith Mayo or Paddy Fitzpatrick.
