Supermarine Ladies made it three straight wins in South West 2 after beating Wimbledon 25-12 on Sunday.

Looking to set the record straight following a shock home defeat against Wimbledon last season, Supermarine came flying out of the blocks.

After quickly regaining possession from their own kick off, Supermarine scored first when Sam Sutherland crashed over in the corner after several strong phases.

Skipper Claire Wilson narrowly missed the conversion but it wasn’t long before Supermarine scored again, Sammy Way-Gooch scoring in the corner.

Supermarine continued to dominate the scrums and lineouts and, just before the break, Claire Chard touched down in the corner to give the hosts a 15-0 advantage at the break.

A furious start to the second half saw Wimbledon hit back with a converted try but Supermarine hit back quickly courtesy of debutant Jenifer Benton.

Introduced at the break, Benton picked the ball up wide to touch down for her first try for the club.

A lapse in the Supermarine defence allowed Wimbledon to score a soft try but it was the hosts who had the last word.

Several quick phases of play saw Supermarine knocking on the five metre line with No 8 Claire Chard picking the ball up from a scrum and driving over in the corner.

The dominant performance saw Supermarine burst to the top of the table, level on points with Trojans, who they visit on October 11th.
