Pinehurst’s Ellie Swatridge (Goal Attack) was the player of the match as she shot an average over 90 per cent to help her team win by just two goals.

It was a fantastic result for Pinehurst who benefitted from fielding a full-strength squad for the first time this season.

In the Swindon & District Netball League Division Two, Pinehurst B went top of the league with an emphatic 74-31 win over Nationwide B.

In the same division, Pinehurst C overcame Raychem C 49-32 thanks to a great team performance in the second half.

In Division Five, the newly-formed Pinehurst E team, with a mixture of youth and experienced players, had a magnificent final quarter against Croft F.

Coming back from a seven-goal deficit, Pinehurst won the match with the last shot of the game, 30-29.

Pinehurst A and D weren’t as successful, with the A team losing to Raychem A 47-21 and the D team losing to Purton 30-18.

In the first 10 minutes, Raychem were 7-0 down but pulled back to take the lead by the end of the first quarter.

They continued to be strong throughout the match with Beth Allen (Goal Keeper) being awarded player of the match.

Fairford A had a similarly poor start against Croft B in Division Two, losing the first quarter 16-7.

However, Fairford came back strongly and won every quarter after that to win the match 56-34. Fairford’s Sasha Gibb (Goal Attack) was awarded player of the match.

Nationwide Netball Club had a good weekend with their regional team beating Babylon 43-34 – their second win of the season.

In defence Nationwide’s Rachel Kelly, Shannon Stephenson and Hayley Neate were absolutely outstanding making their attack work exceptionally hard to get the ball into the circle.

In Division Three, Nationwide C took on Abbey Meads D and despite having just seven players, they led by 17 goals at half-time.

Abbey Meads had some strong moments but they struggled to penetrate the Nationwide defence and were eventually beaten 49-12.

Nationwide’s Sian Corbyn was the player of the match.

Lawn Netball Club had three wins out of four matches last weekend.
