Swindon Spitfires remained top of the Swindon & District League Premier Division with a comfortable 8-1 away win at Village Inn.

A hat-trick from Michael Cox and braces from Phil Lagace and Sam Long gave the away side a comfortable lead before Village Inn grabbed a consolation.

Joshua Okuha bagged Spitfires’ eighth and final goal to round off an impressive performance.

Bassett Bulldogs returned to winning ways but were forced to work hard against previously unbeaten Ramsbury.

Two goals inside 20 minutes for Ramsbury gave them the early advantage but a fine James Hudson free-kick and Riccardo Serratore’s seventh goal of the season made it level at the break.

The Bulldogs continued their resurgence in the second half with three further goals for Hudson and another for Serratore more than enough to cancel out a further Ramsbury goal to secure a 6-3 win.

FC Dorcan narrowly saw off Sportz Central to earn their first three points of the season.

Ali Drew and Jake Kitchin put Dorcan into a commanding position but Brandon Cruz’s goal midway through the second half meant that Dorcan had to defend desperately to hold on to the three points, eventually earning a 2-1 victory.

In Division One, Stratton Juniors narrowly beat local rivals Lower Stratton to maintain their 100 per cent record.

In a well contested match, goals for Ryan Major and Joshua Stanley secured the three points for the league leaders, with Jamie Saunders goal not enough to stop Lower Stratton going down 2-1.

Sports 4 Pinehurst also recorded a fourth successive league win, but they had to come from behind to beat Marlborough Reserves.

Goals from Roger Hill and Michael Robinson were enough to give Marlborough a 3-2 lead but Sport 4 Pinehurst stepped up a gear scoring three further goals to see off their visitors.

Moredon were 6-2 away winners at Chiseldon as they moved into third in the league.

Steven Nicholls and Paul Stevens both scored twice with Carl Wyatt and Tom Goodey also getting on the score sheet to consolidate Moredon’s impressive start to the season.

Tom Davis and Stewart Parsons grabbed goals for Chiseldon but it wasn’t enough to prevent a fourth straight defeat.

Wroughton Reserves picked up a 4-2 away win at Haydon Wick earning them a second win of the season.

Wroughton scored twice in the opening 14 minutes through Nick Entwistle and Jordan Lea before a fine solo effort from James Mingard gave Haydon Wick hope going into half time.

However, a second half brace from Daryll Chambers put the game out of reach for Haydon Wick who, despite several chances, could only grab a consolation through Yasuhiro Ohno.

Newly formed Lyneham played for the first time and were 4-2 home winners over Core Construction.

Goals from Adam Crawford, Daniel Ryott, Matthew Kennedy and John Denellweek were enough to secure the home side’s first points of the season.

All teams return to action this weekend in the first round of the Swindon Advertiser Cup.
