Lawn Netball Club had a clean sweep at the weekend, winning all six of their matches in the Swindon & District Association Netball League.
Julie Harris was the player of the match for Lawn A as they beat Moredon A 39-20 in Division One.
After Lawn surged into the lead in the first two quarters, Moredon reduced the deficit in the third quarter but it proved too little too late.
Lawn’s B side took on Fairford A in Division Two and helped by a great performance from goal keeper Amy Yea, returning five weeks after giving birth, won 51-38.
Fairford played a strong attacking game which saw goal attack Chloe Dodgson named player of the match after she scored some great shots from distance.
Lawn C continued their dominance in Division Three by beating Abbey Meads D 52-16 with wing attack Amy Dodgson receiving the player of the match award.
Ava Kirbyville was the player of the match for Lawn D as they won 41-30 in windy and rainy conditions against Jets B
Lawn’s Regional League Two side also celebrated a victory as they beat local rivals Pinehurst 47-42.
Pinehurst led the match by six goals at half-time but some great team changes and some excellent shooting from Charlotte Legge saw Lawn bounce back to win.
Lawn’s Over 35 side continued the club’s winning streak as they beat Delta Reds in the Thursday night league 36-12 with Cath Bull receiving the player of the match award for her impressive shooting accuracy.
It also proved to be a good weekend for Lawn’s juniors as the under 11 side drew 4-4, the under 12’s won 26-4 and the under 14’s beat Cheltenham 26-21.
Pinehurst A took on a strong Corsham side in Division One and looked on course for victory after the first quarter leading by five.
Corsham though fought back and both sides had to settle for a 34-34 draw with Pinehurst’s player of the match going to Lucy Burton.
In Division Two there was a top-of-the-table clash between Pinehurst B and Abbey Meads A.
Pinehurst battled hard and kept Abbey Meads to within 10 goals for the first time this season as they eventually lost 57-48.
Player of the match for Pinehurst was Jenna Goodright.
Also in Division Two, Pinehurst’s C side beat Burmah B thanks to a great squad performance.
Taylor Goodright was the player of the match for Pinehurst as they won 52-49.
In Division Five, Pinehurst E had a tough match against an experienced Coleview side as they lost 50-11 with Courtney Williams getting the player of the match for Pinehurst.
Also in Division Five, Marlborough took on a depleted Abbey Meads E side who on had six players available.
Marlborough established an early lead but were hampered when Abbey decided to play the second quarter without a wing attack.
Despite the tactical change though, Marlborough eventually won 44-11.
In Division One, Croft A got off to a nervous start against Raychem B and trailed 23-21 at half-time.
Croft though came out all guns blazing in the third and managed to turn the game around, beating Raychem 55-43. Croft’s goal shooter Becky Timbrell was awarded player of the match.
Also in Division One, Burmah A were without their regular shooters against Raychem A, but Gemma Ashman and Zoe Roberts (player of the match) stepped up to lead a great attack against a strong Raychem side who triumphed 61-39.
Burmah C put in a solid performance against Nationwide C in Division Three, as they won 24-15 with captain Charlotte Donaldson (Burmah) and Louise Giles (Nationwide) awarded the player of the match awards.
Delta Reds A stopped their losing run thanks to a 41-41 draw against Razzle Dazzle in what was a closely contested match.
With both teams neck and neck throughout the match, a draw was a fitting result with Division One rookie Flo Lester getting the player of the match award for Delta Reds.
In Division Three, Fairford B beat Delta Reds B 31-27 with both teams giving it their all in wet and windy weather.
Fairford took an early lead against a strong Delta defence who kept the final score to just four points. Fairford’s Mollie Davies was awarded the player of the match.
Raychem’s under 11 side had just six players due to illness but they battled hard and walked away 8-1 winners against Croft.
On form for Raychem was Becky Etchells, Amelia Simpson (player of the match), Thea Carter, Cerys Jenkins and Leila Thompson.
Raychem under 13’s played Fairford in the Junior league and claimed a 27-8 win with Annabel Cripps handed the player of the match award.
