Fitzpatrick tells Young he has no options but to fight Smith

Swindon trainer Paddy Fitzpatrick claims Kelvin Young has no better option than to fight his boxer Sam Smith in November.

The Fitzpatrick-trained Smith will headline Neilson Boxing’s November show with or without Young in the opposite corner, but the Swindon trainer believes this fight is the only logical next step for Young

Young was stopped in the final seconds of his Southern Area title fight against Jack Morris on July 16 and Fitzpatrick says he has no other options now but to fight Smith.

Smith took his professional record to three wins without defeat on the same bill as Young’s defeat against Morris, stopping David Sipos in the fourth round.

Fitzpatrick was delighted with that performance and has no doubt in his mind that Smith would beat the vastly more experienced Young if the pair do meet in November.

If the fight can be made then it will be a non-title fight although it could become a Southern Area title eliminator.
