Fitzpatrick hopes to fast track Smith towards a title

Sam Smith’s trainer Paddy Fitzpatrick is looking to push the light heavyweight towards a title shot sooner rather than later.

On Saturday night Smith, who has only had two pro fights to date, will take on Hungarian David Sipos at London’s York Hall on the same bill that sees Swindon’s Kelvin Young take on Jack Morris for the Southern Area light heavyweight strap.

Both Fitzpatrick and Smith will have an eye on the Young-Morris fight, with the Swindon trainer hopeful that his boxer can land a shot at the loser.

Also fighting on the bill at York Hall is Smith’s stablemate Luke Watkins, who takes on Lithuanian Dimitrij Kalinovskij.

Watkins will be hoping to secure a ninth professional win and extending his unbeaten record.
