Watch part two of our interview with Swindon boxer Lawrence Bennett ahead of his English title fight with Matty Askin later this month.

The fight takes place on Saturday, October 17th at London’s prestigious York Hall with the self-proclaimed “Bad Boy” Bennett claiming he enters the ring as the underdog.

Bennett though is more than happy to be given the underdog tag as he faces a defining career fight against Askin, who has previously fought for the British and Commonwealth titles.

In his interview with Your Sport Swindon, Bennett told us about how his defeat against Courtney Richards four fights ago was “the best thing that could have happened to him” and gave him the drive to go on and win titles.

Immediately after that fight Bennett went on to claim the vacant Southern Area title beating Jack Morris at The Ring Boxing Club in London.

He then shocked Chris Keane, winning on a split decision, in a British title eliminator before defending his Southern Area title in sensational style against Jamie Hearn.

Once again Bennett was the underdog in that fight but, undaunted, he stopped Hearn inside two minutes.

Bennett told Your Sport Swindon how excited he is ahead of his next fight against Askin but has promised to show everyone he belongs at this level and beyond once that first bell rings on October 17th.

He also admitted that it is nice to be finally winning over his critics although he claimed it was never about them, only about proving to himself that he could box at a decent level.

Bennett is also expecting an exciting fight against Askin and predicted that both he and his opponent will “come to fight” when that first bell rings.
