Kelly Morgan’s trainer Rich Farnan believes her war with Melinda Lazar on Saturday night was a great learning fight.
The Swindon middleweight was expected to ease past Hungary’s Lazar but instead found herself in a toe-to-toe fight for six rounds.
Morgan produced the best of the action throughout the majority of the bout which included a third round knock down of Lazar.
But the 35-year-old was also tagged numerous times by the vastly shorter Lazar and was forced to grit her teeth and battle hard for a 58-56 points win.
Although Farnan himself predicted a first round stoppage for Morgan prior to the fight he believes what happened can only help his boxer improve for the future.
