Swindon super middleweight Jamie Cox believes he is finally on the brink of the big fights after joining Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing stable.

The deal was announced at Saturday night’s Matchroom show in Liverpool which saw Rocky Fielding beat John Ryder to win the British title in front of Cox, who is now mandatory to face the Liverpudlian for the Lonsdale belt.

While Cox is fully prepared to “wipe out” Fielding in order to pursue his world title dream, a fight against IBO champion Chris Eubank Jnr is a bout that “excites” him.

And Cox is confident that if he faces Eubank Jnr, he will knock him out.

“I don’t know them personally (the Eubanks), he is not a bad fighter,” Cox told Your Sport Swindon’s Steve Butt. “But there are a lot of holes in his boxing.

“He has not really fought anyone that punches like I do.

“When I hit him on the button I am sure he will fold.

“The fans are calling for it. Eddie Hearn is excited about it, I am excited about it.”

Speaking about signing for Matchroom Boxing, Cox added: “I am absolutely buzzing about it.

“It is great to be with the main guy in world boxing.

“Eddie (Hearn) is the main man, making all the big fights happen.

“He is going to open the doors for me on the big fights.

“From day one that is what I have dreamed of and Eddie can do that.”
