Swindon Premier Golf Academy star Ben Wakeley won Broome Manor’s 2015 Captain’s Day Cup at the weekend.
Wakeley’s gross round of 80 gave him a nett 65 which was enough to claim a one shot victory from both Colin Harrison and Mark Bolton in second and third respectively.
Lowest gross score of the day came from Harrison and visiting Ogbourne Downs star Jake Bolton, who both shot two-under par rounds of 70.
There was further success for the SP Golf Academy as Olivia Bannon won the Captain’s Day Girls’ title with a gross round of 49 giving her a nett 33.
Olly Frith won the Captain’s Day Cubs’ title after shooting 25 around the six-hole Cubs’ course while Harry Dearsley won the Super Tigers’ title courtesy of his gross 44 for a nett 32 from the full tees.
Winning the Captain’s Day Tigers’ title was Jack Smart who scored a gross 43 for a nett 21 on the Tiny Tigers’ short course.
Brome Manor captain Steve Ballard was delighted with how the day went and praised everyone who supported it and raised more than £1,500 for Prostate Cancer UK in the process.
“Now that I have finally recovered from Saturday night, I would just like to thank everyone who helped in the preparation and on the day,” said Ballard.
“The amount raised on the day for Prostate Cancer UK looks as though it will be well in excess of £1,500, so thank you everybody for your generosity.
“A special mention to Lee McGouran, who donated all of his putting competition winnings back to charity.
“Well done to Ben Wakeley on winning the Captain’s Day Cup and to Colin Harrison on his excellent round of 70.
“Thank you also to everyone who stayed and came back for the presentation and disco and made it such an enjoyable night (from what I can remember!).”
