Heavyweight Williams signed his deal to turn professional with Mayo on Thursday night and expects to make his debut towards the end of this year.
In the meantime Williams, who is a big name in Swindon’s white collar circles, will have one last unlicensed bout before he begins his career in boxing’s paid ranks.
Williams will fight on Rumble Promotions’ “Ring Kings” show on August 29th where he will take on Carl Mallinson – another local boxer who has aspirations of turning professional one day soon.
The 28-year-old heavyweight told Your Sport Swindon that he feels the time is right to turn professional and will likely make his debut in Swindon around December time.
Williams will also look to stay busy as a professional and whilst he is looking forward to fighting in his home town, he fully intends to get out on the road as he bids to make a decent living from the sport.
