Lawn Netball Club’s clinched their first win of the season in Regional League Two as they edged out Bristol side Imperial Royals by three points.

Sally Ruddle’s early run of goals saw Lawn come flying out of the blocks as they took an early lead in the match.

In defence, Phoebe Allsopp and Julie Allsopp were in fine form, making numerous valuable interceptions.

Despite Lawn’s fantastic start to the match, Imperial Royals managed to pull the score back to just one point by the end of the first quarter.

Momentum was with the Bristol side in the second quarter and despite excellent interceptions from mother and daughter duo Julie and Kirsty Harris, Lawn found themselves four points down going into the third quarter.

Royals extended that lead to eight in the third quarter but Lawn rallied and managed to claw their way back into the match as they levelled matters going into the final quarter.

It was a fight to the finish in the final session as Lawn continued to make crucial interceptions while player of the match Kirsty Harris helped her side clinch a three-point win at the final whistle.

Lawn’s Over 35’s were also in fine form last week as they claimed a dominant win over Moredon.

Centre Sara Kershaw’s brilliant interceptions earned her the player of the match award as Lawn topped the table thanks to the 43-14 success.
