A fundraising football match is being held at Royal Wootton Bassett on Friday night in memory of former Under 18’s player James Baker who died recently.

The popular 26-year-old sadly passed away on October 5th after losing his long battle with cancer.

Communities all over Swindon have rallied round to help raise money to cover the costs incurred of the treatment James had been receiving in Germany prior to his death.

Friday’s football match is the latest fundraising event to be organised and will see a team made up of James’ former teammates take on a side consisting of players who were with him at school and college, as well as his other friends.

The match takes place at Wootton Bassett’s new Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, kicking off at 7.45pm.

Spectators on the night will be asked to make a donation to enter the match and all money raised will go to James’ family to assist them and to donate to any charitable causes they consider appropriate.
