Jamie Cox produced an explosive return to the ring on Saturday night, knocking out Alistair Warren in one round at Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
It was the perfect comeback for the Swindon boxer, who last fought in June 2013, as he finished off his Huddersfield rival with 30 seconds remaining of the opening round.
Cox showed all his class and no signs of ring rust as he floored Warren after just 17 seconds courtesy of a big right hand.
The 28-year-old’s punches were spiteful with his heavy digs to the body visibly hurting Warren allowing Cox to land his powerful left and right hooks.
Cox looked back to his best and finished the bout off in style with a huge left hand catching Warren flush on the chin and sending him crashing to the canvas.
The referee immediately stopped the bout with Warren in no position to continue securing an easy night’s work for Swindon’s Cox.
Cox now has his sights set on a possible bout with Chris Eubank Jnr and hopes to be back in action within the next eight weeks.
