Swindon rider Pinson secures amazing treble at Donnington Park

A last minute decision to compete in the Team Green Junior Cup paid immediate dividends for Swindon rider Elliot Pinson as he won all three races in the opening round at Donnington Park last weekend.

The reigning Fab Racing British MiniGP70 champion had begun his title defence just two weeks ago but when the opportunity arose to enter the Team Green Junior Cup, Pinson ditched his mini-moto in favour of a Kawaski Ninja 300.

His grandparents kindly purchased the new bike for him while the 12-year-old sold his mini-moto to pay for his entry fees.

And the move paid off immediately as Pinson made a mockery of his ‘rookie’ tag to win all three races at Donnington Park despite having never ridden the bike before.

Pinson qualified on the front row of the grid and, competing against 14 other riders in his class, won the first race by 1.693 seconds ahead of Luke Hopkins.

In race two, Pinson took the chequered flag by 13 seconds from Charlie Farrer, setting the fastest lap of the race in the process.

The Swindon rider then continued his rich vein of form winning race three by over 10 seconds from Farrer to complete a clean sweep of victories.

Pinson was also awarded the Rider of the Day award funded by Kawasaki Racing UK.

The next round of the Team Green Junior Cup takes place at Silverstone over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
