View our picture gallery from Kelvin Young’s English title eliminator fight against Leon McKenzie on Saturday night.

Pictures taken by Your Sport Swindon photographer James Booth.

Young saw his hopes of earning a shot at the English title dashed after referee Terry O’Connor called a halt to the contest after just 43 seconds.

The Swindon super middleweight though will now contest that decision with the British Boxing Board of Control, claiming he got to his feet in time.

Former professional footballer McKenzie dazed Young inside 30 seconds when he landed a big right hand before sending the former Penhill amateur to the canvas with left hook.

Initially Young leapt to his feet before deciding to take a knee and the standing eight count.

Rising to his feet at nine, O’Connor had seen enough and waved the fight off much to the amazement of Young and his corner.

Young claims his head was totally clear and he should have been allowed to continue and will now push for a rematch.

It was a devastating finish for Young on his television debut live on Sky Sports and in front of over 100 of his supporters who had travelled to London’s Copper Box.

The defeat is another disappointing moment in Young’s 24-fight professional career, which in the recent times has faltered.

His previous outing saw him stumble to a lacklustre draw against journeyman Keiron Gray back in October and in his last five fights he has now won just once.
