Swindon Town Ladies boss Steve Robertson remained upbeat despite his side’s 4-1 FA Cup defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The Town Ladies boss believes the loss to Spurs will act as an important learning curve for the remainder of their season with promotion from the Women’s Premier League South West Division One still very much on the cards for the Swindon club.
Robertson conceded that higher division Tottenham were the better side on the day although he felt two fortuitous goals rather flattered the outcome for the Southern Division outfit.
Town also missed several good chances to score in both halves and Robertson believes if they had been more clinical in front of goal that his side could have given Tottenham an FA Cup scare.
Robertson has now challenged his team to keep their heads held high despite the defeat and use it as a launch pad for the rest of the season.
Swindon Town Ladies return to cup action on Sunday when they travel to Northern Division Nottingham Forest in the FA Women’s Premier League Cup quarter final.
