Steve Robertson is confident a change in venue will ensure Swindon Town Ladies’ big FA Cup clash with Tottenham finally survives the weather, at the third attempt.
With the FA Cup second round clash having already been postponed twice, Swindon Town Ladies have switched Sunday’s tie against Spurs to Royal Wootton Bassett Football Club.
Swindon Town Ladies boss Robertson admitted the decision to move the tie away from their Shrivenham home was made reluctantly but with pressure from the Football Association to get the game played, is the best decision in the circumstances.
The switch in venue could also work in Swindon’s favour as Robertson knows the pitch there only too well bearing in mind he plays there for Wootton Bassett in the Hellenic League.
Robertson also revealed that his players turned down the chance to play at Tottenham’s training ground last week because they were desperate to take on the Women’s Premier League Southern Division side in their own back yard.
Talking at the final training session before Sunday’s match, Robertson also admitted that he has a bit of a selection headache ahead of the tie with several players within the squad impressing since the match was initially scheduled to be played on January 10th.
Kick-off is 2pm on Sunday at Royal Wootton Bassett Football Club and spectators are welcome.
