Swindon Shock went two points clear at the top of National League Division Four South West after beating Bristol Storm 88-76 last weekend.

Swindon jumped into an early lead against familiar foe Bristol – a side who have followed Swindon from local to national league level over the last five years and who featured a host of former Shock players.

Once in front, Shock never looked back with their three-pronged attack of Matt North, Spencer Well and Christopher Cole netting points of 16, 18 and 18 respectively.

Defensively Swindon Shock were also on song with Matic Irska and Lee Hobbis forcing Bristol into key mistakes.

Young guard Ollie Swann netted a season high eight points while Ben Clark impressed in his first national league game.

Swindon led by as much as 26 before a Bristol press helped cut the deficit late on to eighth points but head coach David Colclough was impressed with his side’s overall performance.

“It was a great win with things to build on especially the press,”said Colclough.

“Reflecting on the win, I have got to do a better job of taking care of the ball and making sure our guys are in the right position, as I would expect this team to press us again in the future since they had some success late.

“Overall it was a great win.”

Swindon Shock host third-placed Cardiff City this Saturday at New College in a match which could prove crucial to their end of season play-off hopes.
